A SPORTY brother and sister from Easter Ross have represented their country in a UK-wide army cadets cross- country contest.

Lance Corporal Kai Greig (14) picked up a medal after finishing third in the junior boys’ race in the latest Army Cadet Force Association National Cross Country Championships, which were held at Altcar Training Camp near Liverpool last weekend.

His sister, Corporal Kayleigh Greig (15) finished 10th in the senior girls’ competition.

Kai Greig also won a silver medal after the Scottish junior boys’ team finished second overall. The senior girls team finished in fifth position overall.

The pair are members of the 1st Battalion The Highlanders’ Alness Detachment, and were two of the four cadets from the Battalion who were selected for the Scottish team.

A spokesman said: “The competition was quite a successful day for Scotland and the Highlanders with plenty of medals.”

The Greigs’ selection followed their success in the Scottish heat near Dundee last month.
