Easter is set to bring a guaranteed sweet treat for dozens of Ross-shire youngsters thanks to one man's hard work and some generous local businesses.

Garry Clark, a funeral director at Donnie Gunn Funeral Directors in Dingwall, wanted to try and spread a bit of extra cheer at this time of year and decided to make an appeal for donations of chocolate eggs.

Altogether he received 195 eggs from local businesses and individuals, including the Co-op in Beauly, Ord Petrol Station and stores in Dingwall including Tesco, Munro's, Country Garden, Spar and the local post office.

The chocolate treats will be distributed by Alness-based The Place youth club and charities Connecting Carers and Children 1st.

Mr Clark said he was overwhelmed by the support shown for his kind-hearted appeal.

"It just goes to show that people are willing to give to local charities and help out their area," he said.

"Hopefully on Easter Sunday there will be wee smiling faces across Ross-shire and then what I have set out to do I have achieved."

A spokesperson for The Place said: " Our charity depends very much on donations and to have D Gunn Funeral Directors contact us offering us Easter eggs was an amazing gesture and much appreciated.

"Our local young people will be delighted.

"The Place is blessed with having so many people and businesses offering help and support which in turn benefits our community.

"This kind of support means so much to charities like The Place as we believe working together is the way forward.

"Everything we do is funding based, so our team is constantly trying to find money to provide youth services to our community.

"This donation from Garry Clark will be a huge help to youth provision this Easter.

"We are very grateful."
