THE son of the man of who set up Blythswood Care in Lochcarron back in the 1960s has joined its board.

Dunfermline Free Church minister, Rev Jeremy Ross, has joined the board of the Christian charity which was founded by his late father Jackie in 1966.

Having been brought up in the Free Presbyterian manse in Lochcarron at a time when the organisation was based in the village, Rev Ross witnessed its rapid growth in the 1990s and went on to work as fundraiser for Blythswood, before being ordained as a minister.

He said: “I’m glad to be able to serve as a trustee. The organisation and the challenges which it faces are familiar to me as it supports projects run by partners who are keen to help people in need in their own communities.

“It’s great to see the trustees and management team are united in promoting the original aim of my father and others in starting the organisation, doing what they can to share the gospel story so that people can put their faith in Jesus.

“I’m looking forward to meeting volunteers, staff, co-workers and the thousands of donors who make it all possible.”

Blythswood’s chief executive James Campbell said: “No-one is better placed than Jeremy to understand the practical and spiritual challenges which we face. It’s a great encouragement to see him join the board.”

Blythswood’s other trustees are Murray McCheyne, Pamela Lyall, Iain Gillies, Stephen Worgan, Carole Gordon, Lorimer Gray and chairman David Laing.
