The date, as part of the long-running band’s Cities of Love Tour, was supposed to tie in with the album of the same name and as such should have taken place in October last year.
However that date had to be postponed due to Covid restrictions active at the time.
Despite growing concerns about the spread of the new Omicron variant the gig was finally able to go ahead last weekend though, with all appropriate safety measures in place in a bid to keep everyone in attendance as safe as possible.
Deacon Blue’s three albums prior to Cities of Love returned the band to the top 20 of the UK album charts, their latest release peaking at the UK number four slot, though it topped the charts here in Scotland.
Fuelling a creative resurgence among band members they certainly seemed to hit the spot for fans in Inverness, the most northerly stop for the tour, as they took to social media after the gig to show their appreciation.
Among those posting their love, Heather Lewry said: “The Real Gone Kids had a blast at the front! Brill concert!”
And Ingrid Pottinger commented: “Amazing gig, absolutely worth waiting the extra year!”
Darrin Sutherland said: “Brilliant night.
“You had the place jumping.”
And Lilian Shepherd added: “Almost three years since I decided to go see the band. Well worth the wait.”
