Black Isle Tattie Day: Growing food helps with climate crisis and cost-of-living crisis at the same time
Black Isle Tattie Day will be back at North Kessock Village Hall this Saturday.
Some 59 varieties of seed potato will be available from 11am-3pm.
Over the last couple of years Transition Black Isle have managed to distribute seed potatoes using a series of 'tattie hosts' around the Black Isle but they were keen to have their usual event this year.
Previously they have seen people from across the area keen on buying-up of rare, local, heritage and extremely tasty spud varieties for folk to grow at home or in allotments.
Anne Thomas, one of the trustees, said: "It will be brilliant to see so many people enthusiastic about growing food and potatoes in particular. It's a great way to help with the climate crisis and cost-of-living crisis at the same time."
Soirbheas is also running a Potato Day in Drumnadrochit on the morning of the same day for people who live nearer there.
Potatoes will be available at subsequent community markets in Cromarty (March 11), Culbokie (March 18) and North Kessock (March 25).
Transition Black Isle will be donating any leftovers to local schools and charities.
