RESIDENTS in a Black Isle community are being offered free face masks thanks to the generosity of a local volunteer.

Irene Cathcart has been making for anyone that wants one and given them to Fortrose Post Office for distribution.

She said on a local noticeboard: "They are free of charge because I want everyone who wants one to have one, regardless of ability to pay. If anyone wants to make a donation, I will give any money raise to Rosemarkie Amenities."

Her gesture has been warmly welcomed locally. One wrote: "That's a wonderful thing to do and I do hope lots of folks take them and wear them. Great effort."

Another said: "Another shining example of true community spirit, kindness and generosity!"
