Police on the Black Isle are investigating a number of fly-tipping incidents where debris was left on mountain bike trails at Learnie Red Rocks.

Forestry and Land Scotland, which manages the land, has confirmed that the environmental crimes have been reported to Police Scotland.

Councillor Sarah Atkin, who represents the Black Isle ward on Highland Council, spotted this notice which she shared on social media.

In her post she said: "It’s beyond disappointing to have seen this information when walking at Learnie today. I do hope those who know anything will inform the police."

Paul Hibberd. Forestry and Land Scotland’s regional visitor services manager, said: “We are aware of a number of incidents involving what appears to be the deliberate placing of debris on the mountain bike trails at Learnie Red Rocks.

“This is an extremely reckless action, which could cause a serious injury.

“All incidents have been reported to the police. We would encourage anyone witnessing such behaviour to contact the police directly and immediately.”

• Anyone with any information is urged to contact Police Scotland on the 101 non-emergency number.
