OVERNIGHT localised flooding has caused problems in Ross-shire and across the wider Highlands.

Temporary traffic lights are in place due to a landslip on the A832 at the Fairy Glen on the Black Isle, Highland Council reported today.

A reported accident has also caused the temporary closure of the Struie Road at Evanton road while vehicles are removed.

There is also flooding on the Strathconon road and the A832 Tore to Fortrose road.

Meanwhile a number of roads in Inverness and Culloden roads were closed due to overnight flooding

Highland Council's community services teams were called out at 2am to respond to a number of incidents.

Diriebught Road was closed after the watercourse overtopped, affecting a number of properties.

The B9006 is also currently closed between Culloden Moor and Croy with particular problems near to Brinkman Terrace and the Cantraybruich bend.

SNP parliamentary candidate Drew Hendry tweeted a picture of flooding on the B861 Culduthel Road this morning, advising any motorists looking to make their way in to Inverness to use the distributor road instead.

A police spokesman said: "A number of reports of roads flooded were received in the early hours of Thursday by officers in Inverness.Roads affected included the B9006 near Blackpark, Culloden; Towehill Road, and the B861 and Ivanhoe Avenue near to the Asda store. In the Ivanhoe Road flood a car was reported as being abandoned in the floodwater. The other calls were to alert us about the state of the flooding and that cars may not be able to get through the flooded roads."
