A Highland businessman has been named as the president of a leading trade organisation.

Callum Mackintosh, who founded Munlochy-based Highland Hammer Hire/HHH Equipment, will step into his new role after serving two years as the vice-president of the Scottish Plant Operators Association (SPOA).

He will replace the outgoing president Mark Anderson and the new vice president will be John Sibbald from Sibbald Training.

Mr Mackintosh, at 32 years old, becomes the youngest president to hold the role in the 70-year history of SPOA.

He is hoping to inspire young people to consider the industry as a potential career path alongside other goals he set out at the inauguration meeting earlier this month.

“In my tenure as president I will serve with the same high standards of professionalism, transparency and integrity as my predecessor,” he said.

“I have been around plant and machinery my entire life. During my career, I have been fortunate enough to sell plant, operate plant and now, through my own business, hire plant.”
