A father of four who was due to stand trial last Friday stole a car but it crashed on its way out of Inverness.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told that Michael Bradshaw of Station Road, Munlochy, had taken drugs and stopped for fuel at an Inverness filling station on December 4.

Staff reported him to police and officers traced him to near the Old North Inn outside Kirkhill.

The 28-year-old appeared from custody this week and admitted theft of the vehicle from Abbey Court in Inverness, driving while unfit through drugs, without insurance and failing to identify the driver of the crashed car.

He also pleaded guilty to a charge of threatening behaviour, the offence for which he was due to stand trial.

The court heard that he was shouting and swearing at his former partner's mother in Bruce Gardens on September 7 this year.

He was jailed for a total of six months and banned from driving for two years.

Defence solicitor Willie Young said his client accepted he was art and part in the theft of the car and was driving it when it was in the filling station.

Sheriff Sara Matheson told Bradshaw:"Your offending is slowing down but you are at an age now that you should start sorting yourself out."
