A MAJOR community drive launched ahead of the festive season last year is set to be repeated on the Black Isle following a great response from local folk.

Fortrose and Rosemarkie Community Council rallied locals ahead of Christmas in a bid to help the Highland Foodbank stock up supplies.

A Christmas tree near the cathedral in Fortrose and the Spar in Rosemarkie were amongst the collection points.

The community council has been told that the total donated by locals weighed in at an impressive 505kg.

Community council chairwoman Sarah Atkin said: “It was a great effort. We definitely aim to do it again next year and hope other community councils will join us.”
