North Kessock Community Market is back in the village hall this weekend for the first time since the pandemic started.

After almost two years of outdoor events the popular local market is heating up for the winter months.

"It's great to be able to be back in the hall again. It feels like things are beginning to be more normal," says Anne Thomas one of the directors of Transition Black Isle who run the market."

Ms Thomas lives in North Kessock and set up and organised the market from the very beginning.

The market which offers a mixture of local food and crafts was a fixture in the village on the last Saturday of the month for more than 11 years.

Stalls this week include cakes, jewellery, candles, soap, bows, pottery, sewn items, honey, cards, knitting, wool, plants and cheese.

Culbokie market was also back in Findon hall last Saturday.

There have been smaller weekly outdoor markets at both villages throughout the pandemic for an hour at each and these are likely to still be a feature alongside the longer indoor markets with some stalls outside. Culbokie is on the third Saturday and North Kessock on the last Saturday. Cromarty and Fortrose Community Markets are not yet ready to restart.

Face coverings and track and trace details will be required for anyone attending the market.
