A VISITOR attraction on the Black Isle has signalled its intention to open in line with Scottish Government guidelines.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon earlier this month indicated that tourism businesses could start to prepare for a provisional return to trading on July 15.

Fortrose Bay Camp Site has announced it is now taking online booking for the period from July 15 to October 31, and for next year too.

It noted Scottish Government advice that the date "cannot be definitive and is conditional on public health advice" as the county follows a gradual route map out of the coronavirus lockdown.

The campsite has told prospective customers that if it is not open by July 15, they will be entitled to a full refund or a swap of dates. And it has made clear that July 15 "will be the absolute earliest we can open".

It said: "The safety of our guests, team and our community is paramount. Along with the other campsite on the Black Isle, we have also made the difficult decision to keep all shared facilities closed. Toilet/ shower blocks and kitchen/dishwashing areas will not be available during your stay. You will have access to water, waste water disposal and chemical toilets."

It says hand sanitising stations will be situated at key areas across the site, adding: "We are awaiting full advice, from the government, in order to provide a safe, clean and legal site for you all to enjoy. Look forward to welcoming you soon."

The site is close to one of the biggest visitor attractions on the Black Isle, Chanonry Point, which has become a magnet for dolphin spotters.
