A ROSS-shire animal shelter is opening on an appointments-only basis after a lengthy shutdown caused by the coronavirus lockdown.

Munlochy Animal Aid on the Black Isle says its appointments system will run between 10.30am and noon on Monday to Saturday.

The shelter, which has looked after and helped rehome hundreds of animals down the years, asks anyone wanting to make an appointment to call on 07740237728 and leave a message if they don't get an answer.

It says it will try to make appointments based around whether it feels it has a suitable animal for the individual.

It said: "If you are visiting from a wider area we will try to be more flexible.

"Hopefully things will be back to normal soon.

"Thank you all for your support during these strange times."
