Bike-riding robbers steal cash and push victim to ground in broad daylight in Alness

Police are hunting two robbers who assaulted a woman in broad daylight, pushed her to the ground and stole money from her purse.

The incident occurred on a lane in Alness between Kirkside and Teaninich Street at around 1.10pm on Wednesday.

A police spokesman said: "A 60-year-old woman was approached by two unidentified males on bicycles who pushed her to the ground before stealing a sum of cash from her purse. They then left in the direction of Teaninich Street."

The robbers were thought to be aged around 17 to 20-years-old, and were of slim build and about 5ft 8in tall.

Both were wearing dark clothing and possibly waterproof style jackets and their bicycles were described as being dark in colour, with one having some grey trim on it.

Detective Sergeant Chris Robertson, of Alness police station, said: “We are working to identify the two males described and would urge anyone with information to get in touch.

“We would be keen to speak to anyone who saw or heard any disturbance, or who may have dash-cam or private CCTV from the area.
