A fundraising event including a raffle held over the weekend raised £631 in two days. The money has already been transferred to the Disasters Emergency Committee Tirkey-Syria earthquake appeal.

A spokeswoman said: "Last weekend the good people of Rosemarkie and beyond came along to Rosemarkie Amenities Beach Cafe to support a fundraising event organised by RAA to raise funds to support the people of Turkey and Syria who have been devastated by the terrible earthquake.

"A total of £631 was raised over two days - this has now been transferred to DEC."

As of this week, the DEC was citing a figure of 35,000 people killed and 17 million displaced or immediately affected by the natural disaster.
