Motorists are being encouraged to plan ahead as road surface works take place on the A87 and A82 overnight from this Sunday, August 22 for four nights.

The closures on the A87 and the A82 between the Invergarry Junction and Ardochy Forest will be in place from 8pm until 6am.

Roads operator Bear Scotland who will be completing the work, are keen to point out that motorists are set to benefit from an improved road surface due to the works.

The programme of improvements will see over one kilometre of the A87 and A82 resurfaced, creating a smoother and safer road for motorists.

The project is programmed to take place over four nights between 8pm and 6am. All work is scheduled to be completed by 6am Thursday August 26, subject to weather conditions.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s north west representative said: “This surfacing project across these two locations of A87 and A82 will help address defects and greatly improve the surface for motorists.

“The overnight closures are essential for ensuring the safety of road workers and motorists due to the narrow widths of the road at these locations. We’ve taken steps to limit the overall impact of the project by carrying out the work overnight.

“Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as they can, and we thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete these projects.

"We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information.”

The programme of work is as follows:

A87 Ardochy Forest – Sunday August 22

Due to the narrow road widths at this location on the A87, work will be carried out using a full road closure between Invergarry Junction and Ardochy Forest to ensure the safety of operatives and road users.

A signed diversion route will be in place via the A82 at Invermoriston and A887 at Bun Loyne.

A82/A87 Invergarry Junction – Monday August23 to Wednesday August 25

To allow teams to safely carry out improvements to the A87/A82 Invergarry Junction, the A87 junction will be closed during working hours.

A signed diversion route will be in place via the A82 at Invermoriston and A887 Bun Loyne.

Due to work taking place within the area of the junction, a 10mph convoy system will also be in place on the A82 for safety.

The road will be open outwith working hours to keep disruption to a minimum, however a speed restriction of 30mph will remain in place as traffic will be running over a temporary surface.

Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.
