A WESTER Ross mountain pass will close to traffic for several hours later this month to enable the Celtman Triathlon to pass through.

Highland Council has confirmed that the Bealach na Ba on the Applecross peninsula will be closed to traffic from 5am to 8am on Saturday, June 24.

The closure will apply to the whole length of the C1087 Bealach na Ba road from its junction with the A896 Shieldaig to Lochcarron road to the C1091 coast road at Applecross a distance of roughly 16.5km.

Pedestrian access and access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

During the closure road traffic will have to divert via Shieldaig and the coast road.
