A MOTHER of three who has raised thousands of pounds for charity as her store’s community champion is looking to clean up with another head-turning extravaganza.

June Ross, from Dingwall, a team manager at Morrison’s Supermarket in Alness, shaved off her locks in front of colleagues and customers as part of a three-day challenge last August, which raised almost £3,000 for the Sue Ryder Appeal and the Oncology Ward at Raigmore Hospital.

Now, along with a number of her friends and colleagues, she has organised a bath push from Invergordon and Dingwall next weekend.

This time, she's raising money for the Yorkhill Children's Charity.

June has tagged her latest two-day challenge, which she’s doing off her own bat, Butterflies on Wheels. The first stage of the journey, between Invergordon and Evanton, is next Friday (June 5), along with seven of her helpers. The journey will be completed the following day, when June’s team set off for Dingwall.

Initially it was to have been a bed push: “We couldn’t find a bed, so we thought a bath would be just as good. A local lorry driver, Brian George, who comes into our store, volunteered to make all the necessary adjustments to the bath. He’s been fantastic, the bath it is now roadworthy – we can’t wait to get started.”

An initial £600 target has already been surpassed. Said June: “Whatever we raise now will be a bonus.”

She has promised members of the public they will probably hear her coming before they see her. She said: “We will have hooters and will be making plenty noise, so please come out and support us and donate anything you can.”

June and her party expect to arrive at their final destination, the Mallard Bar, Dingwall at around 8pm on Saturday night — in time for a well earned refreshment.
