Last night they revealed on social media that they will play a very special gig on February 23 at the venue which is due to close soon to make way for a new hotel.

Headlined ‘Twin Atlantic: Celebrating The Life Of The Ironworks… 2008-2023’, the band writes: “It’s a bitter sweet moment for us to announce we are coming back to Inverness to headline the Ironworks one last time as the venue is set to close next year. We have such a long and special history with the venue and all of it's truly fantastic staff.”

Then they add: “This will be an emotional night for everyone involved and we are proud to be a part of the swan song moment for such an iconic establishment in the Highlands. Come celebrate and say goodbye with us!”

Pre-sale tickets go on sale today (Wednesday) from 9am. Tickets go on general sale on Friday (Dec 2), also from 9am.

“One last time,” the band’s lead singer Sam McTrusty writes alongside an emoji of a broken heart in one tweet.

And the Ironworks venue comments beside it: “Going to be a sad one …”

At their last gig at the venue in May this year – their 11th – when the band played through their iconic album Free, as well as many other big moments from their career, the crowd and Twin Atlantic were having one of their regular love-ins. As the review pointed out: “… even as the crowd learned to use their voices to redesign a singalong as a weapon of mass destruction, the 10th anniversary gig for Free was welding the band’s Inverness audience back into place in front of them.”

At the end of that night, Sam McTrusty had promised: “See you for number 12!”

Now Twin Atlantic is keeping that promise to the Ironworks and all the fans.
