A LIFESAVING charity was delighted to receive almost £600 in donations from one of the Highlands most popular bakeries.

The fundraiser involved all of Harry Gow shops in the region and will give a vital boost to RNLI Kessock.

A spokeswoman for the lifeboat said: "We are just delighted to have received such a generous donation, which is around £100 more than last year's, and we are grateful to all the generous customers that decided to support us.

"This is really means a lot for us, especially as donations nationwide have gone down recently despite being called out more regularly, so funds form the local area are fundamental for us to be able to keep the boats on the water and save lives."

Harry Gow director, Fraser Gow, said: "The RNLI do a tremendous job and this result is all thanks to the generosity of our customers. We regularly host collection cans for RNLI and other charities who rotate regularly and it's fantastic to be able to support their work."

The team staged a car wash at the weekend. Find out how they got on in this week's editions.
