THE author of an award-winning book set in a remote Ross-shire community will this weekend discuss how the many childhood trips to the county to see his grandmother influenced his writing.

Graeme Macrae Burnet, author of His Bloody Project, set in the Applecross peninsula in the late 1800s, picked up the Saltire Society Fiction Book of the Year award and was shorlisted for the Booker Prize. The gripping story of a brutal triple murder in a remote Scottish Highland community won praise from readers and critics alike.

He is amongst the guests on The Big Scottish Book Club, which goes out on BBC Scotland at 10pm on Sunday, November 22.

Host Damian Barr delves into the past with historical tales from Burnet as well as Kate Mosse and Kirsty Wark.
