Instead, the event in Dingwall which had been planned to help Roz Paterson will help four cancer charities.

It follows the news that the mother-of-two will receive treatment in England.

But a fundraising concert featuring a host of local bands has been cancelled.

Rocking for Roz was due to take place at Inverness Leisure Centre on February 22. Full refunds will be given to those who had bought tickets.

Ms Paterson (52) said the consensus in Beauly is for the auction and future events to go ahead and to split the money between local cancer charities – Highland Hospice, Macmillan Cancer Support, Maggie’s Centre and Marie Curie.

However a decision has been taken to cancel the concert, which would have featured Scooty & the Skyhooks and Torridon, following the announcement that Roz’s Go Fund Me Campaign was being closed.

“We’re absolutely delighted to hear that Roz Paterson is to receive her much-needed treatment here in the UK,” said a spokesman for the organisers.

“We’d like to thank everyone who has supported ‘Rocking for Roz’.”

Full refunds will be available from ticketing outlets, Morrison’s of Beauly and Cafferys Inverness, while all tickets bought online will be refunded automatically.
