A 36 year old "attempted murder" victim was fined £240 at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday (Tuesday) following an unrelated fight in a Dingwall pub.

David Reid, of Hill Street, admitted a breach of the peace by fighting with another customer in the Hen House on February 9, 2019.

Fiscal depute Rowena Carlton told Sheriff Sara Matheson that the pair had become aggressive with each other and Reid was "kicking out" at the other man.

Defence solicitor Laura-Jane McFarlane said her client was not the instigator.

"The other person went for him and this was a response to what happened to him.

"He was the victim of an attempted murder a few weeks ago and has undergone major surgery so unpaid work probably wouldn't be an option for the court as he continues his recovery."
