A FRESH appeal was issued tonight for help tracing an Easter Ross man.

Calum Mackenzie (41) of Alness was last seen in the town around 1.30pm on Thursday last week.

Police said earlier concern was growing for Mr Mackenzie, of Salvesen Crescent.

Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team members today supported police in the search.

A spokesman for the team said: "Despite intensive searches we were unable to locate the missing person. Our thoughts are with the man’s family at this difficult time."

The team has also appealed to anyone who lives in Alness or was in the area over the last few days to read the police appeal seeking help. It posted on social media saying: "Are you a dog walker? Were you walking around the Crawl Park or Dalmore circular walk area on Thursday afternoon? Did you see him? Please call 101 with information."

Drivers meanwhile are being asked to check dash-cam footage from between 1pm and 3pm on Thursday, particularly from the Salvesen Crescent, Kendal Crescent and Obsdale Road areas in Alness, and the B817 shore road between Alness High Street and Invergordon.

People are also being asked to check CCTV around their property, and to have a look in any outbuildings, sheds or garages for any sign of him.

He is described as white, 6ft in height, of stocky build and bald. He was wearing a black jacket with a blue logo, a light blue shirt, black jeans and black boots.

The local Coastguard, RNLI and mountain rescue teams have also been providing assistance, leading to increased activity in the Alness/Invergordon area.

Inspector Martyn Brill said: "I thank the public for their continued assistance to trace Calum and ask if you have any details that could help to find him, no matter how insignificant they may seem, to please contact us.

"He has never been missing before and his family are extremely concerned. I also appeal to Calum directly to please get in touch with us or his family.”

Anyone who has knowledge of his whereabouts is being asked to contact officers at Alness Police Station via 101, quoting incident number 3129 of Friday, November 8, 2019.

Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously through the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
