An Alness carer has won an award in recognition of her dedication and quality of care, at Meallmore care provider's annual Colleague Awards which celebrates their employees across Scotland.
From Redwoods Care Home in Alness, Fiona Sutherland was awarded with the Senior Carer of the Year Award, which recognises quality care and support to residents as well as colleagues. The award celebrates her dedication, working in partnership with nursing and care colleagues and the sensitive handling of matters important to residents.
The Meallmore Colleague Awards, now in its 12th year, was held at the Dunblane Hydro and had over 200 people in attendance from Meallmore’s 26 care homes across Scotland.
Presented by singer and TV personality, Michelle McManus, the awards had 14 award categories, with nominations put forward by residents, residents’ families, visiting professionals and other Meallmore colleagues. In total, over a thousand submissions were put forward.
Speaking on her win, Fiona Sutherland commented: “I’m absolutely delighted, I really didn’t expect it, but I just want to thank the Redwoods team. If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be standing here today, so this is obviously for them as well as for me.”
Cillian Hennessey, managing director of Meallmore, said: “We’re extremely proud of all our colleagues and their hard work and commitment. We regularly see individuals going the extra mile in providing the highest standards of care for our residents and so this awards ceremony is a perfect opportunity to acknowledge them.
“I would personally like to say a huge thank you to every one of our colleagues at Meallmore, as they each make a real difference in the lives of our residents across Scotland. All finalists show exceptional dedication to our company, and the winners are thoroughly well-deserved."
