AN imaginative flight of fancy from an Easter Ross pupil inspired by the coronation of King Charles has been shared by the monarch's representative in the county.

Pupils across the Ross and Cromarty Lord Lieutenant's patch had been invited to take part in an art competition which acknowledged the King's love of nature and the great outdoors.

Lord Lieutenant Joanie Whiteford said: "We were delighted to have had 48 schools taking part with entries from over 2500 children.

"The lieutenancy team visited all participating schools in June, with the overall winning schools within each associated school group receiving a Coronation Coin and a voucher to use to purchase art materials. Each child and each participating school received a certificate to thank them for taking part.

"The pictures were absolutely fantastic, and it was such a pleasure to have worked with the children and staff of our Primary Schools to roll out this competition.

"We are also extremely grateful to Highland Council for their assistance and expertise."
