AN Easter Ross councillor has taken fly-tippers to task for thoughtless behaviour at a time when "we really do have enough to do".

Councillor Pauline Munro (Cromarty Firth) made her remarks after the discovery of a shopping trolley and large screen television in the Milnafua area of Alness.

She took to social media to get her message across, writing: "Can whoever thought it was okay to dump their old TV and a shopping trolley at the hall come and get it we are trying our best to keep the place moving and you blocked our bins.

"This is beyond a joke, we really do have enough to do."

Her comments come in the wake of our report in the Ross-shire Journal showing a rise in reports of fly-tipping in several parts of Ross-shire.

While some have called for Highland Council to re-open recycling centres closed in line with lockdown guidance surrounding the Covid-19 outbreak, many others have backed the local authority's bid to control the spread of coronavirus and protect staff.

Council officials have warned of fines for fly-tipping and appealed to people to store items for recycling until such time as normal service is resumed.
