Alness Academy new build on schedule, education authority says

A NEW £34 million state-of-the-art Easter Ross school is on schedule, it has been claimed.

The Alness Academy new build is being delivered by Hub North Scotland on behalf of Highland Council with Kier Construction as the main contractor.

A Highland Council spokesperson said: “The Highland Council and Hub North Scotland remain confident that the completion date of April 10, 2020 for the new build phase of the project will be met. The total budget for the project is £37.4 million.”

The new school project has been supported by £14 million from Scotland’s Schools for the Future programme.

Alness Academy has been part of the Scottish Attainment Challenge schools programme since August 2017. Since then a total of £360,000 of Pupil Equity Funding and additional funding has been used to support approximately 25 per cent of pupils affected by deprivation.
