DINGWALL is in line for a further housing boost with an application from Albyn Housing Association for erection of 43 houses and associated plot works on land to north of Chestnut Road.

This project is Castlepark Phase 2, and is currently under consideration by the council.

The area is currently rough grazing, and a planning statement from consultants Bracewell Stirling says: "While the sloping topography of the site is challenging, it is an attractive development opportunity providing spectacular views towards the Cromarty Firth.

"It has good access to local facilities such as schools and public transport, and in close proximity to recreation space with open countryside and forest walks through the adjacent woods."

The proposals incorporate a mix of two, three and four bedroomed flats, bungalows and villas.

"Set against the backdrop of the existing woodland area, the dwellings will adopt a simple and modern style," adds the planning statement.

There will be a "feature entrance" to the area from the distributor road.
