A former Inverness man now living in Alness spat at a police officer who had wanted to question him about another matter.

Nathan Cowie who has moved from St Fergus Drive in Inverness to Westford, had to be restrained by Inverness city centre constables on May 18, 2021 when he became agitated.

Fiscal depute David Morton said that the 23-year-old then spat in the direction of one officer, just missing his face.

Defence solicitor David Patterson said his client, who admitted assault, was a first offender and a background report would be required.

Sheriff Sara Matheson deferred sentence until April 19 for the report and a restriction of liberty order assessment.
