A WESTER Ross community is set to suffer "minor disruption" next week when an HGV and extended trailer - carrying nothing - undertakes a 25-mile dummy run on single track road.

The trial run has been arranged for next Wednesday (April 25) in relation to the Coigach wind farm.

Northern Constabulary say the run will begin at 10.30am when an unladen HGV with an extended trailer leaves Ullapool Harbour to go to the site of the single-turbine development.

The 25-mile route is predominantly single track road, "which may lead to some minor disruption to the travelling public".

The route to be taken will see the HGV exit from Ullapool Harbour onto Riverside Terrace, Market Street and then the A835, westbound.

It will then turn left at Drumrunie junction to Achiltibuie.

The Highland police force said in a statement: "The trial run will be escorted by the police to ensure traffic congestion is kept to a minimum and assist the safe passage of the vehicle.

"The public's assistance and patience during this trial run is appreciated."
