The A9 has been reopened following a serious road accident about 9am today. (Tuesday)

All three emergency services attended the crash in involving three cars just north of Tore Roundabout on the Black Isle.

Fire units used hydraulic cutting gear on two of the three cars said a spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

Diversions were in place until late afternoon when Police Scotland confirmed the trunk route had reopened.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Motorists are advised to use an alternative route at this time and should allow for longer than normal journey times.”

The trunk road north of Tore reverts to a two-lane highway after being dual-carriageway from Inverness.
