Police advise Ross-shire motorists to avoid the A9 near Helmsdale which is closed in both directions due to a fire

Police are advising motorists the A9 closed in both directions due to an ongoing fire.

It is at Loth, which is just south of Helmsdale and crews from Scottish Fire and Rescue are currently in attendance.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Traffic is being asked to avoid the area while the incident is being dealt with. Local diversions are being implemented."
