The A9 is closed in both directions by Aviemore after a car caught fire.

The incident occurred just before 10am. It is not known if there are any casualties.

Traffic Scotland is reporting that both the northbound and southbound lanes are closed.

The car blaze appears to be just south of the Lynwilg junction.

Traffic Scotland stated: "The A9 at Aviemore is currently closed in both directions due to a road traffic incident.

"Motorists are advised to use an alternative route at this time."

The B9152 can be used between Aviemore and Kingussie for A9 traffic as a detour.

Police Scotland has been contact for more details.
