A busy Highland trunk road has been closed to all vehicles due to heavy snow.

The A87, which links the Great Glen to Skye, was closed in both directions between Invergarry and Shiel Bridge shortly after 1pm, Traffic Scotland announced on its website.

It follows earlier reports of heavy snow "beginning to affect" a number of key Highland trunk roads, and also follows an earlier road traffic incident between Loch Cluanie and Glen Shiel.

And, in a post to Twitter shortly before the A87#s closure was announced, Traffic Scotland also advised of "difficult driving conditions" on the A835 Tore to Ullapool road and the A82 after "a dumping of snow".
