Carmen Wagner and Tariq Khan were married in a civil cermony at Boleskine House.

A couple came all the way from London to tie the knot in the first of many ceremonies hoped to be held at a fire ravaged Loch Ness-side mansion.

Boleskine House, run by the trustees of the Boleskine House Foundation, organised a wedding for the couple at the historic Highland landmark.

Tariq Khan and Carmen Wagner were married in a civil ceremony at the house, which is a building site as it undergoes a major renovation.

The couple's original plan had been to marry at Inverness Town House, but it was unable to take place due to Covid-19 restrictions.

At first, the wedding was to be held in the gardens of Boleskine House, overlooking Loch Ness. But a day before the ceremony a Dangerous Building Notice was removed allowing them to hold the ceremony inside.

The ceremony was conducted by a registrar, with two volunteers working on the renovations as witnesses.

All had to wear hard hats on the site, but were able to remove them for the wedding photographs.

Mr Khan said Boleskine was an ideal alternative when they were unable to marry in the Town House.

Boleskine House owners Keith and Kyra Readdy bought the building in 2019 and set up a foundation to rebuild the structure, previously owned by author and occultist Aleister Crowley and Led Zeppelin guitarist and producer Jimmy Page.

Mr Readdy said: “We would like to express our warmest wishes to Tariq and Carmen who got married at Boleskine House!

"Long may the love of their marriage bless them and bring them a lifetime of happiness.

"Thank you for allowing us to share this moment with you.

"It was a lovely ceremony. Hopefully they will be the first of many people getting married here.”
