Highland tale of two Tescos - one has diesel 8p cheaper than another just along the road!

But drivers in the Highland capital today might notice some help is a little better depending on which Tesco filling station they visit.
For there is a whopping 8p difference in the cost of diesel per litre at two Tesco stations in the city only a few miles apart.
Sharp-eyed pensioner Alexander Dow of the city's Westhill spotted the new lower price as he drove past Tesco Ness-side on Tuesday, but decided to fill up at Tesco Inshes since it was nearer his home.
He said: "I assumed all Tesco prices would have come down to the same price, but luckily checked the big sign at Tesco Inshes and noticed the considerable discrepancy."
Tesco Ness-side is down to 156.9p per litre, while 3.5 miles along the Distributor Road at Tesco Inshes it was the "old" price of 164.9p per litre.
Petrol was the same price at both stations – 138.9p per litre.
Mr Dow added: "I went into the shop at Tesco Inshes and pointed out the discrepancy and said to the staff I thought both filling stations would have the same price.
"I was told they thought the same but had been told it would be a few days before Inshes would match Ness-side in the same town!
"It used to be that Tesco and Asda very much followed each other's prices and would be the lowest, but it doesn't seem to work like that any more.
"I was in remote Laide the other day and diesel was lower than Inverness, and I have heard that villages such as Beauly and Drumnadrochit have very competitive fuel prices."
