AN EASTER Ross drop-in session will offer locals the chance to find out more about plans for a new 80-home housing development in their town.

The proposals for mixed tenure affordable and private housing, recreation area, public open space and associated infrastructure on land east of Rosskeen House, Invergordon has been tabled by Bracewell Stirling Consulting on behalf of Capstone Connect and Highland Council.

A pre-application consultation took place at Invergordon Rugby Club last week.

A second is due to take place at the same venue on Thursday, October 12 from 4-7pm.

The application will be of interest to many in the wake of recent capital plan discussions on the replacement of Park Primary School.

At this stage, no application has been submitted to Highland Council.

A public notice lodged by the council states that if the prospective applicant goes on to submit a formal application for planning permission there will be an opportunity to make representations to the local authority.

Local councillors, MSPs and MP have been informed of the proposal of application notice (PAN).

A planning application for the proposal cannot be submitted less than 12 weeks from the date of the PAN and without the statutory consultation requirements having been undertaken.

The planning application must be accompanied by a pre-application consultation report. The PAN is valid for 18 months.
