In celebration of their 60th birthdays, Muir of Ord residents Eileen and David Mackay, have chosen to give back to their community in a remarkable act of generosity that is capturing hearts.

The Care and Learning Alliance (CALA), a prominent Highland childcare charity, is honoured to be one of the chosen beneficiaries of this couple's gift.

The children at CALA's Muir of Ord Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) setting were delighted as they received the generous donation of puddle suits from Eileen and David. The thoughtful gift couldn't have come at a better time as the damp, chilly months of winter set in. The suits will ensure the children will be cosy and dry on their daily outdoor play and learning explorations.

Jaci Douglas, the chief executive of CALA said: "We are profoundly moved by the generous donation from Mr and Mrs Mackay, especially during a time that is meant for celebrating them. Their incredibly kind gesture has resonated with all of us, and we wholeheartedly wish them a joyous birthday, filled with many more years of good health and happiness ahead.

"CALA are committed advocates of play, nurture and children’s rights and provide a range of high-quality services supporting positive outcomes for children and families including 21 Early Learning and School Age Childcare settings in communities throughout Highland. This heartfelt gesture from Eileen and David underscores the importance of community support”.

Eileen Mackay, who made the generous donation, said: "We are thrilled to make this meaningful donation of puddle suits. Having personally witnessed the incredible impact of CALA’s Muir of Ord (MoO) setting on children's development and well-being, we are delighted to contribute to their work. It brings us great joy to know that our contribution will be put to excellent use, and we eagerly anticipate witnessing the children out and about in the community enjoying their daily outdoor adventures while staying warm and dry in these suits."

Laura Bonner, manager at Muir of Ord ELC, added: "We cannot always guarantee sunshine, but with these suits, we can guarantee daily outdoor adventures!”
