There have been 34 additional confirmed coronavirus cases in the NHS Highland area in the past 24 hours, new figures have shown.

The new cases take the tally for the NHS Highland area since the start of the pandemic to 3960.

Some 1003 people have tested positive across Scotland in the past 24 hours, taking the national total to 179,685.

And there have been six new reported deaths of people who have tested positive, though that comes with the usual reminder tat register offices are now generally closed at weekends.

Elsewhere in the north, NHS Grampian had 38 new recorded cases in the past day, taking its tally to 12,426.
