30th anniversary milestone for Easter Ross-based recycling social enterprise ILM Highland

A trailblazing electrical appliance recycling charity in Easter Ross is set to celebrate its 30th anniversary this weekend.

Alness-based social enterprise ILM Highland has has a huge impact on Ross-shire and Sutherland during its three decades - collecting 32,000 tonnes of electrical waste, successfully refurbished almost 1000 tonnes of white goods and assisted almost 50,000 people.

And to mark its the milestone milestone ILM Highland - which offers electrical appliance recycling, refurbishment, spares and repairs and affordable re-sale services, as well as vital free home improvement services and support to some of the most vulnerable people in the region - is planning a series of events.

On April 27th, ILM will host a public family open day at its Alness headquarters from 11am to 3pm, including trapeze entertainment (11am-1pm), Fox & Friends entertainment (1-3pm), as well as face painting, candy floss, game, refreshments, baking and lots more.

Other events planned include an ILM Highland staff and board day and, from April 22 to 27, there will be a 10 per cent discount on all electrical goods in the ILM shop, on both new and refurbished items

Since being founded in 1994 ILM Highland has improved the lives of tens of thousands of vulnerable people across Ross-shire and Sutherland - as well as being a taking a lead in recycling, sustainability and CO2 reduction initiatives.

Martin Macleod, CEO of ILM Highland, said: “We are thrilled to be celebrating 30 years in business and are looking forward to marking the occasion at our public Family Fun Day on April 27th.

“To see how the organisation has grown from day one to where we are today - having provided the support that has made a real difference to the lives of over 110,000 vulnerable people across the Highlands - is something everyone associated with ILM Highland should be extremely proud of.”

Reinvesting every penny of profit, ILM is Highland driven by an ethos to support vulnerable people across the Highlands to live at home independently. To support their range of services they offer an extensive electrical recycling service – to the public and businesses – as well as selling quality and affordable refurbished and new appliances both online and from a shop in Alness. ILM Highland also produce refurbished Chromebooks, ensuring old and unwanted laptops do not end up in landfill.
