Power firm SSEN says 20 homes and businesses in Alness hit by power cut

Homes and businesses in Alness have been hit by a power cut.

Energy firm SSEN says that 230 properties lost electricity overnight with engineers still working to correct the fault reported just before 2 am this morning.

High Street, Averon Road, Mitchell’s Lane, Bank Lane, Ardross Street/Place and Crawl Park are said to have been affected, but the nearby Co-op Supermarket reported that it was unaffected.

An SSEN spokesman blamed a fault in the underground network and said it was hoped power would be restored by 10 am.
