THORNTON - (Maryburgh). Peacefully, after a long illness, at Redwoods Nursing Home, Alness on 31st August, 2023, Jean Thornton, aged 84 years, of Bakerhill, Maryburgh, known to many as Brown Owl. Honorary member of Maryburgh & Conon SWI, member of Dingwall & District Choral Society and long time supporter of the Special Education Department, Dingwall Academy. Dearly loved wife of 60 years to Richard, much loved mum of Claire, Bridget and Nicholas, dear mother-in-law of Andy and Linda, proud granny of Martin, Hannah, Charis, Matthew and the late Neil and great-granny to Ollie, Megan and Lily Rose, also a loving sister of David. Funeral service on Monday, 18th September at 11am, in the Methodist Church, Huntly Street, Inverness; thereafter to Fodderty Cemetery. All welcome to attend. Donations, in lieu of flowers, to Alzheimer Scotland may be given at the service. Arrangements by John Fraser & Son of Lovat House, Dingwall.
