Over 40 members and friends of the Tain and East Sutherland Rotary clubs held a fellowship evening on March 29, to welcome the District Governor for Scotland North to the area.

District Governor, Ken McLennan, from Forres, gave an address at the event, leaving those in attendance with "challenges and inspiration" to consider for in the year ahead.

Chat over supper followed before award-winning clarsach player and singer, Jennifer Port, entertained the crowd.

A spokesperson for the clubs said: "Jennifer captivated us with conversation, song and music that fitted the mood – fun, patriotic, traditional and modern each touching a cord for reminiscence or touching the imagination."

The evening included awards for the clubs and a raffle held in aid of good causes which resulted in a generous donation made to Tain based charity Kats Second Editions – a charity set up to help families across Easter Ross and Sutherland who are in need of clothing and equipment.
