A Ross-shire engineer who downloaded over almost 1500 stills and videos onto mobile phones and a laptop will be sentenced next month.

Dawid Jankowksi of Milnafua, Alness was ordered to return to Inverness Sheriff Court on April 16 to be sentenced after admitting the offence which occurred between June 17 and June 21, 2023.

Fiscal depute Alison Young told Sheriff Sara Matheson that police had intelligence that he was in possession of indecent images of children and obtained a search warrant for his property.

They seized various devices including mobile phones and analysis discovered 18 accessible videos and three stills in the three categories of obscenity, involving girls aged between one year old and 12 years old engaging in sexual activity.

Mrs Young added that on the other phones and a laptop were 1148 inaccessible stills and 284 inaccessible videos in the same three categories involving girls aged between three and 15.

Defence solicitor Clare Russell said her 37-year-old client was currently participating in two rehabilitation programmes.

Sheriff Matheson called for a background report and an assessment for the sex offender's programme "Moving Forward to Change".

Jankowski was also immediately placed on the Sex Offender's Register.
