Young Saints bounce back with impressive win over Forres
Adverse weather decimated the card for this weekend's Highland Football League under-18 north fixtures, with just one match making the cut.
The surviving game took place at Mosset Park, where Tain based hopefuls St Duthus took all three points thanks to a hard-earned victory over Forres Mechanics.
The Can Cans opened the scoring with a goal from Jack Millar on 32 minutes with a finish from a tight angle.
But their advantage lasted just nine minutes after Harris Mackenzie put his side back on level terms thanks to good build-up play from Kaden Irvine to create the chance for the striker.
An inspired half-time team talk had Saints coming out the traps with purpose and they immediately went ahead. Catching goalkeeper Murray Newlands off his line, midfielder Billy Knox lobbed the Mechanics stopper from 35 yards to make it 2–1.
St Duthus wrapped up the win on 53 minutes with a spot of magic from midfielder Alex Mackenzie who curled a well-struck free kick around the wall from outside the area to make it 3–1.
Just after the hour mark, an over-eager Sam Eades was dismissed for a second yellow card, reducing Forres to ten men.
Two goals up and with a man advantage, Saints comfortably held on to their lead and closed out the game to record their first win since September.
