Vital all clubs are around next season, says Ross County co-manager Stuart Kettlewell

ROSS County co-manager Stuart Kettlewell says it was vital to end the season in the lower leagues to ensure every club has a chance of playing next season.

The Staggies voted in favour of SPFL proposals which saw the Championship, League One and League Two campaigns come to an end last week.

It resulted in more than £1.8 million being paid to clubs in those divisions early in a bid to compact the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

It also led to Dundee United, Raith Rovers and Cove Rangers being crowned champions of each of their divisions.

But it also meant that Partick Thistle were relegated to League One and Stranraer to League Two.

And the play-offs will be scrapped this season, denying Caley Thistle a chance to get back to the top flight and Brora Rangers to League Two.

But Kettlewell insists it was the right decision to call the season early in the lower leagues to make sure all clubs can survive.
