Wild romps home to top honours at Ross hill race

WEATHER conditions were just about perfect for the 12th outing for the Cioch Mhor Hill Race which, with 62 entries, was well up on previous years.

The underfoot condition conditions suited Finlay Wild, a three-times winners of the Ben Wyvis race, who set a new course record of 1.05.12, an improvement of over three minutes on the record previously held by Alex Keith (1.08.18). He was closely followed by Gordon Lennox (1.09.05) and Brian Marshall (1.10.16).

Four Swedish entrants, who came to Dingwall after discovering the Clachnaben event had been cancelled, thoroughly enjoyed the race and the Highland hospitality afterwards.

Sponsors included Geo Cockburn & Son, West End Filling Station and William Deas. Others supplied home-baking and sandwiches. A donation was given to the Puffin Pool

There was also a Junior Race on the day.
