Ross County manager Don Cowie feels Staggies could have put Rangers under more pressure in defeat to Glasgow giants in Dingwall

Don Cowie manager was disappointed that Ross County could not put Rangers under pressure even after going behind on the scoreboard.

Hamza Igamane broke the deadlock in just the sixth minute, before a mistake from Jack Hamilton allowed Danilo in to make it 2-0 before the break.

James Tavernier would put the icing on the cake for the visitors in Dingwall in the closing stages, but before it got to that point Akil Wright missed two opportunities from corners to get County back into the tie.

“When you’re playing a top quality team, and concede really early, it’s important to keep yourself in the game for as long as possible,” Cowie said.

“We did that, then conceded a really sloppy second goal.

“In the second half it was about trying to get some momentum to put some pressure on Rangers, but we didn’t take our chances.”

As for Hamilton’s error that led to Rangers’ second goal, Cowie commented: “He’s disappointed in terms of the manner of the goal.

“I don’t think that was the reason we lost the game. He played really well apart from that one moment, so we won’t get too caught up in it.

“It’s an error that could be from the lack of gametime that he’s had over the last five or six months, and the tempo caught him. It happens, but he showed really good character throughout the whole game considering how little football he played.”
